Weekend Movie: Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon

South African born actor, Basil Rathbone, was probably the best Sherlock Holmes ever onscreen. Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon was not one of Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories, in fact it took place at the time of filming, approximately 50 years after the invention of Holmes’ character; still the acting is superb and this film allows Rathbone to show his abilities manifested in the leading man and/or “good guy,” persona, whereas he was typically featured as a villain.
